Duration: 10 weeks Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week, unpaid

United Way is seeking a self-motivated Marketing Intern to assist the Marketing team with various marketing projects, including managing a social media calendar, assisting with graphic design and creating written content. During this internship, you will learn to work closely with a team, develop oral and written communication skills, improve problem-solving skills through task management and gain knowledge of a marketing career in the nonprofit field.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and creative undergraduate student in good academic standing with an enthusiasm for brand strategy, digital marketing and content creation, strong written and verbal communications skills, great attention to detail, flexibility to work on multiple projects at a time and experience crafting thoughtful, impactful stories and social media posts.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing our brand's voice, ensuring all content aligns with United Way's brand identity and messaging.
- Create visually engaging social media graphics and assist in generating original content for social media, blogs and newsletters. Collaborate with the marketing team to write compelling copy that drives engagement and audience growth.
- Support in managing and executing our social media strategy. Maintain the social media posting calendar, ensuring timely and consistent content across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). Help track social media metrics and performance data.
Requirements/Skill Sets
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, managing frequent changes, delays, and/or unexpected events
- Experience with Canva & Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) and their best practices.
- Basic knowledge of social media management & analytics tools and an interest in understanding data-driven marketing, i.e. Hootsuite
- Knowledge of SEO and content marketing principles.

This internship will provide hands-on experience in a fast-paced marketing environment, helping to heighten awareness of our brand while developing valuable marketing skills and possibly acquiring school credit. You'll work closely with our marketing team to create compelling content, manage social media, and build a strong brand presence. You will have the opportunity to network within the nonprofit industry and contribute to meaningful projects that positively impact the community.
This role will work a hybrid schedule to include some days from home, as well as in the Uptown Charlotte office. The Marketing Intern reports to the Content Manager.
