ABOUT LAWS
Founded in 1984, LAWS is a 501c3, non-profit organization that has earned an outstanding reputation for delivering safe-haven and a host of essential services to adults and children directly impacted by domestic and sexual violence. LAWS' mission is to serve adults and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; to empower, inform, and advocate for these individuals; to educate the community about domestic violence and sexual assault; and, to work towards the elimination of personal and societal violence. LAWS' strives to offer a framework of comprehensive support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence so that they may live free from fear, anxiety, and danger.
Every year, LAWS' staff of approximately 35 professionals, a committed group of volunteers, and a diverse Board comprised of community and business leaders, work to enhance the lives of the approximately 1,000 adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence here in Loudoun County. Today, in addition to operating a 24/7, emergency shelter for adult and child victims, LAWS also delivers an array of services to include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, legal resources, support groups, a Child Advocacy Center, and community outreach programming. All services are provided with complete confidentiality, and at no cost to recipients. Additionally, LAWS operates a retail thrift shop (The Resourceful Woman) in downtown Leesburg, VA.

THE MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER ROLE
The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead and execute LAWS' marketing and communication strategies. This role will amplify awareness of LAWS' mission to empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse while engaging donors, stakeholders, and the community. This position will oversee content creation, digital marketing, media relations, and brand management, ensuring a survivor-centered approach in all communications. They will drive campaigns to support fundraising efforts, community engagement, and program awareness while managing external and internal communications.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. (or equivalent professional experience)
- 3-5 years in direct development role within a non-profit organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and mission-driven content.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, including email marketing tools, social media, and website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Basic graphic design skills and experience with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential or sensitive information.
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and familiarity with SEO and digital engagement metrics.
PREFERRED
- 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally with a focus on nonprofit advocacy, fundraising, or survivor services.
- Proven track record of managing successful marketing campaigns and increasing engagement with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Experience in media communication, including drafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and building relationships with journalists.
- Familiarity with donor engagement and fundraising campaigns, including creating sponsorship packages and event marketing materials.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and ethical storytelling, especially in contexts involving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish, is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in graphic design and video editing software, enhancing the organization's ability to produce professional marketing materials
