MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC with Security Clearance - Department of the Navy

Summary You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the Maintenance Division of the Fuel Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO. Duties * You will perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems. * You will test marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments; repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and valves, as required; operates hand and powered tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair. * You will disassemble and inspect motors to locate defective parts; repair and adjust electrical and mechanical equipment of inboard or outboard boat engines and conduct operational tests. * You will operate, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and ancillary equipment to load, unload, and transfer fuels through pipelines, hoses to and from the tank farm, oil tankers, ships, yard oiler barges, and tank trucks. An example of the screen out element is: Having experience as a Marine Machinery Mechanic to perform the full range of tasks as demonstrated by applying and performing practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments performing a majority of services including dismantling, overhauling, installing, repairing, relocating, modifying, maintaining, aligning, a wide variety of marine engines, machinery, equipment, and systems such as propulsion engines, propellers, rudders, cargo handling machinery, davits, anchor handling gear, spill boom assemblies, and other equipment that are located aboard or around boats, small craft, yard oiler barges, and other floating craft assigned to the Fuel Department; disassembling and inspecting motors to locate defective parts using mechanic hand tools and gauges; testing marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments; operating hand and powered tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair; performed major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems using technical manuals, schematics, and technical knowledge of equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
