Job Purpose
The Field Technical Manager (FTM) role supports the Marine Equipment dealer network to establish Honda brand value, customer, and dealer satisfaction. Maintaining and promoting customer retention and repurchase of Honda Power Equipment products by providing in-person and Techline support to Honda dealerships. FTM’s are responsible for prompt reporting of technical issues and resolutions in the market for further follow-up review by our quality analysis staff. This role will include working on DC Electric Vehicles and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) products. This position will be based in our Alpharetta, GA office location and requires frequent overnight travel, including unplanned spur-of-the moment travel to address high priority cases.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide in-person technical support to protect the customer, dealers, Honda brand image
- Provide customer support for dealers and retail customers. Supporting any issues our product is having
- Provide field technical product information. If product has issues or flaws in the field report back to Japan
- Provide technical training information and motivation. Give training in our dealerships to help our techs
- Complete special projects as assigned. May be performance testing or training our outside staff
- Support Techline call duties on a scheduled basis. Taking calls on the phones and helping with dealer issues
- Provide support as needed for warehouse projects, special investigations and other events or projects when requested.
- Resolve product issues working with the customer service and techline teams while providing timely reporting of product issue and resolutions back to the quality team.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- College education in business or industrial field is preferred, or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
- Vocational or marine technical training education is desirable
- Five years technical and at least two years management experience at retail or wholesale level in the marine (or related) industry, to include service management, field service representative, or technical training
- Good working knowledge of the marine industry, marine industry products, excellent technical understanding of marine internal combustion engines, marine drive lines, marine rigging, diagnosis and repair
- Dealing with people and complex issues is an essential part of this position. good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on any level with internal or external personnel. strong skills in negotiation and motivation is a must.
- Ability to operate and train on key automotive/marine precision measuring equipment and engine monitoring equipment. working knowledge of p/c computer systems and all common office program applications for reporting and presentations
Workstyle
- Travel up to 15% of the time. Occasional weekend work.
