THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking a highly motivated senior-level Marine Electrical Engineer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)'s Ship Design Team. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with one of the following specialized Marine Electrical fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems, as well as familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.
Typical Responsibilities:
Location: Full time onsite at USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC (preferred). Fully remote from some CONUS locations may be considered.
Travel:Up to 10% travel is anticipated for ship checks.
Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $110,000 - 140,000. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.
US Citizenship Required:Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required:This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred); OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.

Typical Responsibilities:
- Review electrical systems design drawings, interpret ship specifications, evaluate power and lighting systems, and electric or diesel-electric propulsion.
- Write electrical system specifications for concept, preliminary and contract-level designs and ship modifications.
- Review marine electrical systems and define engineering requirements.
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Perform design and calculations including but not limited to EPLA (Electric Power Load Analysis), Arc-Flash Analysis, Electrical System Survivability Analysis, and Ground Fault Analysis.
- Conduct design, analysis, studies, evaluation, and recapitalization of electrical circuits, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.
- Conduct performance studies, and develop reports, drawings or specifications relating to electrical power and generation.
- Evaluate effect of new or modified electronics on overall system performance.
- Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS's), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC's).

- Bachelor's degree in Marine or Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Master's degree preferred.
- At least six (6) years of progressive experience in Marine Electrical fields.
- Overall experience must include at least five (5) years of documented experience working in one of the following specialized fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems.
- At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs required.
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.
- Knowledge U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architecture.
- Knowledge of USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Relevant certifications preferred, such as:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- DHS Systems Engineering certification.
- DHS Program Management certification.
- Proficient with common productivity software.
- Strong communications skills.
