ERSG is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join a major engineering, transmission and energy developer on a large-scale energy project.
Ideally looking for a Project/Construction Manager with experience in either Transport & Installation (T&I), Marine Construction or major EPC projects, this is a 6–8-month contract with the opportunity to extend or transition into a permanent, direct position at the end of 2025.
- Role Type: 6-8 month contract with option to extend (up to 2 years) and/or transition into permanent position
- Rate: $68.00 - $90.00 per hour (marine, offshore and local candidates may command a higher rate)
- Overtime Available: Yes
- Location: Richmond, VA or Portsmouth, VA
- Relocation: No allowance, but accommodation/travel possible
Job Summary:
- The Construction Project Manager will be required to ensure alignment of project scope, objectives, budget, and schedule with stakeholder expectations and organizational goals to ensure all equipment is transported, installed, commissioned, and documented as required in a timely manner. This includes onshore / offshore construction and day to day interfaces with other package managers, site construction team, offshore client representatives, and the Commissioning team.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in project management processes and practices.
- Regularly report the project's progress, performance, any problems, and potential risks to the senior management on site.
- The candidate will be required to work with the transportation and installation contractor to ensure the equipment transportation, installation, and commissioning
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required:
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in project management principles, methodologies, relevant technologies, and leadership in best practices.
- Experience in offshore wind construction, maritime construction, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
- Exceptional leadership, motivation, problem solving, and empowerment skills, with a track record of delivering high-performance and quality outcomes.
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills, with experience in working with cross-functional and multidisciplinary project teams and internal and external stakeholders at different levels.
- Proficient in managing changes, risks, and uncertainties, and communicating effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences.
- Experience in Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) coordination / interfaces with internal and external stakeholders – this is a preference, but certainly not a requirement.
- Good working knowledge of marine, mechanical, electrical, and control, systems.
- Good working knowledge of high voltage, substation, and associated control systems is a plus.
- Risk Management of Transportation and Installation for offshore construction activities.
- Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) as required.
- Proficient with interpreting technical drawings, documents & management reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Education Requirements
- Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelors
- Disciplines preferred: Engineering, Construction Management, or related degrees that are applicable to Project Construction in utilities.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
- Preferred: PE, PMP, PMI-CP
