Manufacturing Unit Leader - Forming - Saint-Gobain

About the Job
The Manufacturing Unit Leader is responsible for managing day-to-day activities and driving mid-to-long-term strategic improvements in the Forming manufacturing area by providing the critical leadership to effectively manage productivity, quality, and all other related operations to achieve maximum operating efficiencies within cost and quality standards, which will meet or exceed customer requirements.
This role develops effective teamwork and utilizes innovation to achieve departmental goals and ensure the continuity of production by effective communication with all departments which include Quality, Maintenance, Planning and Customer Service.
The Manufacturing Unit Leader is held accountable to ensure production activities comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures.- Responsibilities include:
+ Supervise and development of production supervisors, -leads and process engineer to foster a high performance culture
+ Exercise good judgment in the utilization of manpower, work in progress and operational adjustments and ensuring day-to-day operations run efficiently across three shifts, five days a week
+ Prepare operational plans and budgets and reports to appropriate Management on actual performance vs. plan
+ Track and manage KPI’s.
+ Communicates expectations, measure and assess employee performance, provide coaching and development opportunities.
+ Directly monitors the production processes and production quality to ensure compliance to established company standards.
+ Ensures production employees receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
+ Perform root-cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to production.
+ Work closely with the Production Planner to ensure compliance to the production schedule and production changes.
+ Work closely with inventory management to assure sufficient materials on hand for required production
+ Participate in the development of job safety assessments and standard operating procedures.
+ Maintains work place organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.

Required Qualifications :
+ Master's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical...)
+ 8+ years' experience working in a production/manufacturing environment
+ 5+ years' experience in a leadership role within a production/manufacturing environment managing, coaching and leading direct reports
+ 5+ years' experience in lean manufacturing, six sigma or WCM type methodologies,including Continuous improvement methodologies (Incl. 5S, Kaizen, SMED…)
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Proficient in ERP systems, Excel/PowerPoint and BI tools
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
+ Strong leadership and team management skills
+ Knowledge of Quality Management Systems / Certification environment
+ Experience managing and working with outside contractors and vendors to ensure the overall safety of the facility.
+ Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation of machinery and equipment
+ Understanding Basic Finance and cost structure / P&L
Preferred Qualifications :
+ PMP Certification
+ Green Belt / Black Belt (6 Sigma or WCM)
