Manufacturing Test Support Engineer
Position Level: Exempt
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Position Summary: Provides technical test assistance to customers in test board design, test board assembly, and production harness manufacturing test. Continuous improvement responsibility for the harness testing process.
Essential Job Functions (include but are not limited to):
- Maintains and updates harness test systems and software
- Analyzes customer requirements and provides customer with the best solution in the most cost-effective manner. Updates management when appropriate
- Designs and writes test specifications for harness testing projects when required
- Applies tools from Lean Manufacturing to solve testing problems and improve test operations
- Works toward achieving goals established with the Engineering Manager
- Ensures performance of all quality standards that pertain to harness manufacturing and testing
- Maintains the ISO 9001 and IATF quality standards on all projects
- Assists engineering harness personnel and production personnel with any testing issues
- Demonstrates professionalism when representing the company in all communications with internal and external customers and vendors
- Follows all company policies and procedures
- Sustains housekeeping standards in accordance with KRSC appearance guidelines
- Maintains KRSC to internal safety standards and OSHA compliance
- Conscious consideration of the Kirby Risk organization when engaging on social media, mindful of the images and language used
- Completes and demonstrates a full understanding of ongoing cyber security training concepts and applications
- In addition to the Essential Functions and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and or 3+year work experience
- Electrical degree preferred
- Advanced interpersonal, leadership, and customer contact skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates computer skills and aptitude
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities and successfully meet several deadlines at once while maintaining attention to detail and organization
- Listening effectively when others are speaking
- Continuous learner
- Flexibility to support multi-shift operation
- Effective execution of all job functions under challenging situations
- Harness testing or equivalent test experience preferred; Cirris; CableScan; CableEye; etc.
- Ability to perform and retain various skill-related tasks, training, and operations

Work Environment:
- Primarily onsite, indoors, controlled temperature environment
- May be required to go to customer site where the environmental conditions will vary
- Ability to perform essential functions of this onsite role in a work environment with a variation of noise levels to include: high to moderate noise due to hand tools, machinery, heavy equipment, moving motorized vehicles, alarms, vibration, and general conversations
- Ability to perform in a fast-pace, collaborative, competitive manufacturing business environment
- This position will be working with office equipment utilizing computer, printer, copier, scanner, phone, all equipment related to area
- Ability to perform in a team environment embodying the Values & Principles while communicating in a professional manner
- Sustains housekeeping standards in accordance with appearance guidelines
- Ability to perform and retain various skill related tasks, training, and operations
Safety Requirements:
- Report and correct any unsafe task or operation immediately to management prior to continuing task
- Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, safety hazard or property damage.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed by immediate supervisor or customer requirements and Kirby Risk Safe Workplace
- Comply with all company and customer OSHA, safety policies, procedures, rules, and best practices
- Participate in safety meetings and training
- Be constantly aware of personal safety and that of coworkers.
- Ability to use and operate hand tools such as, soldering iron, heat gun, power tools, and other equipment required for work safely and effectively
Physical Requirements:
- Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone;
- Use hands repetitively to operate, finger, handle or feel standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
- Employees are frequently required to stand and walk.
