The General Mills Buffalo Plant manufactures Flour and Cereal products for our North America Retail and Convenience and Foodservice Business segments. The flour products are targeted to a wide variety of customers within our
Convenience and Foodservice division. Our cereal products include a variety of sizes and packing configurations of Cheerios, Honey Nut, Blueberry and Very Berry Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Corn Chex and Honey Nut Chex. This plant has a
long history in Buffalo and began as a flour mill in 1903. Today, the plant focuses on achieving its Destination Zero journey by focusing on our Zero Loss principles as well as in building a One Buffalo culture.
The Team Leader Associate role is designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to learn about manufacturing and operations at a General Mills facility, learn more about the Team Leader role and bring new ideas/continuous
improvement to the plant.
Duration
This is a temporary role, and will last 3 months in length, generally over the summer. Typical timeframe is mid-May through end of August.
What your compensation will look like:
$24/Hour
Key Accountabilities
- The TLA will have exposure to typical Team Leader assignments in Manufacturing, Maintenance or Material Handling Departments. Examples include:
- Conducting system audits and improvement engineering (establishing operating parameters, troubleshooting, overseeing installations / start-ups of major new systems).
- Developing safety and sanitation programs
- Identifying and implementing cost-savings opportunities
- Leading capability studies (productivity, ingredient loss, system reliability, overall capability)
- Ensuring quality compliance (lab analysis)
- Shadowing Team Leaders and Operators to learn and perform daily activities/procedures.
- Understanding the roles of support and administrative departments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Leadership experience in school, work, or extracurricular activities
- Open to shift work alternative shifts (2nd shift or 3rd shift) as part of the 24-7 operations of the plant
Preferred Qualifications
- Working toward a BS/BA in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial/Quality Engineering Technology, Operations, Manufacturing or Production or Business Management, Supply Chain Management
- Students with a sophomore or junior year class status
- GPA 3.0 or above preferred
