Pay: $65,000-72,000
Hours: Monday -Friday 2:30pm-11:30pm
Some Saturdays required
The primary responsibility of this position requires technical expertise, training, and leadership with the shift technicians (machine operators) regarding equipment setup, shutdown, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance in Plastics Thermoforming, Injection Molding and Extrusion. This position will also monitor key metrics including quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency.

The primary responsibility of this position requires technical expertise, training, and leadership with the shift technicians (machine operators) regarding equipment setup, shutdown, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance in Plastics Thermoforming, Injection Molding and Extrusion. This position will also monitor key metrics including quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Major Work Duties
- Responsible for meeting daily/weekly/monthly shift production goals regarding productivity, runtime, and efficiency.
- Recommends new methods and best practices designed to improve efficiency to the Management Team.
- Communicates and works closely with various departments to follow up on needs and issues as needed (i.e., Extrusion – material issues, Maintenance – major machine repair, Tooling – tooling issues and adjustments)
- Conducts technician training/cross training in equipment operations, work procedures, and safety.
- Provides daily reports to the Management Team as directed.
- Team Engagement of shift Technicians.
- Handles behavior modification and coaching/mentoring opportunities as needed on the shop floor.
- Completes training in a timely manner as directed by the Management Team.
- Provides hands-on training (by example) as needed with new and current technicians.
- Responsible for checking quality attributes in products both at the start, during, and end of the shift and by monitoring periodically (hourly) throughout the shift.
- Train technicians in safe work practices.
- Must always demonstrate safe work practices.
- Using QAD to monitor production reporting for accuracy (i.e., downtime codes), look for trends and areas for improvement.
- Completing roll stock backflushing process and monitoring the backflushing process of each technician (machine operator)
- 2nd Shift-2:30pm-11:30pm
- Will assist the Management Team with suggestions and processes to improve the efficiency and productivity of the equipment and machines.
- Responsible for frequent and ongoing communication with all machine technicians and Management Team.
- 5+ yrs. experience in a Production Supervisory role.
- 3+ yrs. in the Plastics/Rubber industry (preferred)
- Math and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and data entry.
- Experience in a leadership role with team engagement is recommended.
- Certified Plastics Technician (SPI/SPE) is a plus.
- Attendance is critical to the position's success and must be able to work up to 6 days a week or variable schedules in peak and nonpeak season.
- In depth experience in thin-wall, high speed thermoforming plastic processes with a minimum of (3-5 years) is preferred.
- Works closely with setup to ensure efficiency and effective transition for efficiency and continuous improvement objectives.
- Manage, direct technicians, and perform housekeeping on equipment as needed.
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $65,000.00 - $72,000.00
