About the Job
The Manufacturing Process Engineer for Spin Forming will lead the definition and technical execution of spin forming related projects, encompassing metal forming, machining, assembly, and analytical testing. Responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process from conception to execution, this role involves defining production equipment, tools, systems, and materials to establish efficient and lean manufacturing processes. Additionally, the engineer will focus on process improvement and production optimization using lean methodologies post-production operations initiation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts in metal manipulation and forming processes, utilizing thermal analysis, pyrometry, and metallurgy to drive improvements in forming and processing techniques.
- Design and develop tooling systems, mandrels, and fabrication processes, ensuring alignment with metallurgical and thermal specifications.
- Serve as the technical lead for tooling and process implementation related to metal forming, ensuring efficient integration with lean manufacturing principles.
- Implement standardized processes for forming metals, incorporating pyrometric systems and metallurgical standards to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Manage projects, conduct project reviews, and ensure successful and timely completion within budget constraints, while communicating changes and progress status.
- Develop organizational capability and engineering/technical skills among team and division sites, maintaining appropriate training programs for continuous learning.
- Develop capabilities for improved engineering techniques and establish documented technical standards and best practices.
- Implement standard processes and tools for engineering tasks consistent with industry best practices, ensuring adherence to defined processes.
- Lead continuous improvement processes for productivity and first-pass yield, utilizing tools including Design for Six Sigma to identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance, and implement improvements accordingly.
- Utilize tools to develop, introduce, and transfer products to the site, acting as a manufacturing liaison for products from inception through shipment to the customer.
- Interact with Design Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure the design for manufacturability of both new and legacy products.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years' experience supporting product development and/or sustainment programs.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in Tubing and Sheet Metal Processes, including Metal Spin Forming, Drawing, and Progressive Manufacturing Processes to support Tool & Die Design.
- Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing techniques and six sigma training/mentoring for at least three (3) years.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience supporting manufacturing in the Aerospace industry.
- Three years of experience in thermal analysis/management.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
