SUMMARY
The Senior Process Engineer for Assembly & Testing is part of the process engineering team responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing production processes for variable displacement and electrically driven compressors for the automotive industry. This position participates in the development & implementation of assembly process concepts for customer projects globally considering existing plant capacities and technologies assuring project timing and KPI deliverables, supports MAHLE plants in assembly processes issue(s) resolution, and supports the KPI target achievement by improving the global assembly production footprint in line with: MAHLE Production System (MPS) standards and requirements, and MAHLE Compressors Global Bill of Process (BOP) deployment and commonality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct feasibility studies of assembly & testing processes
Work close together with product engineering ensuring state-of-the-art testing processes.
Design and manufacture equipment and tooling for engineering trials and series production.
Lead develop & implementation of compressor assembly & testing processes.
Elaborate equipment specification and conduct equipment validation.
Work with suppliers and manufacturing plants globally to ensure processes are implemented per specifications.
Represent the process engineering department in project meetings reporting the status of the respective projects.
Drive manufacturing process & technology standardization and continuous improvement.
Drive equipment flexibility and capacity utilization.
Prepare P-FMEAs, PCPs & Work Instruction.
Support plant manufacturing processes problem/issues resolutions.
Support optimization workshop in the manufacturing plants globally.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering with a focus on Production, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required; Masters degree is a plus
5+ years of professional experience in the field of high precision (small) tolerances manufacturing and assembly processes development is required; 10+ years is preferred
Demonstrated experience in Production Launch and Process Design is required
Demonstrated experience with highly-automated assembly lines (i.e. Automatic Assembly, Automated Assembly Cells / Robotics) is required
Experience with Helium Mass Spec Leak, Electrical Testing and NVH Testing is highly desired
Experience working with suppliers and managing equipment builds is required
Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Basic 3D modeling
Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects
Ability to work effectively in global team environment at different locations
25-30% Domestic & International travel (Mexico, Brazil, Europe and China) is required
Salary: 80,000-130,000
