Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team, a leading sheet metal fabrication company. The HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating HR functions, focusing on compliance, benefits administration, onboarding, new hire training, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a strong understanding of HR practices and a passion for fostering a positive and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including OSHA, FMLA, and EEO requirements.
- Maintain and update company policies and employee handbook to reflect current legal standards.
- Conduct audits to ensure proper documentation of personnel files, I-9s, and other compliance-related records.
- Stay up-to-date on HR trends and regulatory changes to advise leadership on necessary adjustments.
- Benefits Administration:
- Oversee employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other voluntary benefits.
- Manage open enrollment process and educate employees on benefit options.
- Coordinate with benefit providers to resolve employee inquiries and troubleshoot issues.
- Track leave of absences, including FMLA and ADA accommodations, and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
- Onboarding & New Hire Training:
- Manage the full onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience.
- Conduct orientation sessions covering company policies, safety procedures, and benefits enrollment.
- Develop and deliver training programs for new hires to ensure they are well-equipped to succeed in their roles.
- Coordinate with department managers to establish clear training and development plans.
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and providing guidance on workplace matters.
- Foster a positive workplace culture by promoting engagement and recognition programs.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to improve retention and employee satisfaction.
- Recruitment Support:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to post job openings, review resumes, and schedule interviews.
- Support workforce planning by ensuring alignment with business needs and hiring goals.
- HR Operations:
- Maintain HR systems and records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of employee information.
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to identify trends and recommend solutions.
- Support the payroll process by providing accurate and timely information related to employee changes.
Payroll Administration:
- Process employee payroll, ensuring accuracy in hours, deductions, and tax calculations.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for management review.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for HR-related expenses, including benefits, training, and recruitment costs.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling HR and payroll accounts.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts related to labor costs and HR initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
