MANUFACTURING ENGINEER MANAGER SUMMARY: Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties. RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises employees in the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee scope of department responsibilities and support assigned engineers with technical direction and prioritizing
- Breakdown program requirements and assign tasks to department engineers along with continuous program status
- Oversee planning of product tooling/fixture designs to ensure efficient production methods and maintain schedule.
- Attend daily shop meetings to assist in resolving manufacturing and/or quality issues
- Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and/or inter-department relations.
- Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes where needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by researching efficient improvements and developing proposals; Includes the oversight and implementation of improved procedures and new equipment installations.
- Engineering Manager is expected to fulfill the Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities themselves along with department oversight. Their engineering tasks are as follow:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and oversee efficient manufacturing process.
- Design and build work holding fixtures for all assigned product
- Develop in-process check procedures, work instructions and tooling reviews
- Train operators per work instructions and oversee manufacturing process to ensure efficient equipment utilization
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Maintain all required department documentation including APQP checklists and timesheets
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develop recommendations accordingly.

- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, five years related engineering experience and two years related management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experiences.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- knowledge of Inventory software; Speadsheet software; Internet software; Word Processing software and Adobe Acrobat software.
- Knowledge of Solid Edge software (CAD) is highly desired.
