About the Job
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operation of manufacturing systems, reduce waste, and meet production goals. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in manufacturing processes, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Process Development & Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize costs.
· New Product Introduction (NPI): Support the introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment by collaborating with R&D, quality, and production teams. Ensure that new products are designed for manufacturability and support process validation and testing.
· Equipment & Tooling: Specify, procure, and maintain manufacturing equipment and tooling. Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure all equipment operates at peak efficiency, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
· Quality Assurance: Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and industry regulations. Work with quality teams to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
· Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive process improvements, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
· Safety: Ensure all manufacturing processes and equipment meet safety standards and regulations. Implement safety protocols and training programs to protect workers and minimize the risk of accidents.
· Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, and efficiency.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams to ensure that manufacturing processes meet the needs of the business and support company goals.
· Training & Development: Provide training to production staff on new equipment, processes, and best practices. Ensure that operators are knowledgeable about standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in medical assembly and injection molding plastics
· Technical Skills:
o Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
o Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
o Experience with CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
o Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards, such as ISO, GMP, or similar.
· Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, operating equipment, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.
