Manufacturing Engineer Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Research and develop new processes, equipment, and products.
• Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
• Develop detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow.
• Study production and machine requirements and upgrade systems with new technology.
• Act as liaison between Engineering, Production, and Quality to support supply chain.
• Manage Bill of Material (BOM) maintenance and implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN)s
• Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
• Perform failure analysis on manufacturing issues and identify root cause.
• Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products follow safety standards and comply with environmental and legal regulations.
• Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
• Manage document control activities including generating documentation for new processes and maintaining and editing existing process documentation.
• Train staff members in new and existing processes.
Qualifications:
• Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering required.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD, CAM, MS Office, data analysis programs, and related software.
• Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
• Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) reading and maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organization, management, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of technical expertise.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design.
• Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
• Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Teamwork and Leadership skills
