About the Job
Our Client, a leading contract manufacture of superior medical devices is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with New Product Development experience for their facility located in St. Charles, IL
Essential Functions:
- Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
- Develop equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost / benefit analyses and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into new or existing manufacturing processes.
- Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness in conjunction with Operations (Ops) and Project Management (PM) teams.
- Develop / adapt electromechanical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to address functional needs unique to soft goods manufacturing.
- Lead development and design of machinery and manufacturing jigs / fixtures including generation of required 2D drawings and/or 3D models.
- Assist NPD Project Managers with drawing and model creation.
- Provide engineering assistance to Production and Maintenance teams to solve problems related to manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment failures (tools, machines, and fixtures)
- Work with PM and Quality teams to complete pFMEA and Risk analysis as required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with medical device manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Must exhibit excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Effective oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Self-directed with creative problem-solving ability.
- Able to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
- Eager to learn new skills and transfer their knowledge to others.
- Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and design / modeling principles.
Compensation Range: $70,000 to $90,000/yr. (Depending On Experience)
Shift hours: 1st shift Mon-Fri with the ability to travel locally

Required Skills:
- BS in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Process, or Mechanical are preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of progressive experience as a Product Development team member or lead.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD and CAM software (Autodesk Inventor preferred, SolidWorks also a plus)
- Proficient with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) coupled with general computer literacy.
- Experience with new equipment commissioning – including documentation creation / collection outlining operating procedure, troubleshooting, needed schematics, BOMs, and replacement parts.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in soft goods manufacturing (textile-based products) in a manual (cut and sew) production environment.
- Experience in new product development or sustaining engineering of medical products in an ISO 13485 environment.
- Experience authoring IQ-OQ-PQ protocols in a medical device manufacturing environment.
- Lean Six Sigma implementation history with some level of Six Sigma certification.
- Bilingual - English / Spanish.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
This position regularly requires an 8-hour work day. Moderate overtime, including weekends, may be required. This job usually operates in a production environment.
Travel:
There may be minimal business travel in this position. You must possess a valid driver’s license.
Residency:
Must be a US citizen or possess a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). H1-B Visa sponsorship is not available.
