Design development and production fixtures for assembly and test of medical devices. Support product design engineers with prototype builds. Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
What is your target years of experience range? 3-5 years
When do you plan to start interviewing? As soon as we have resumes.
Will you be looking to hire and start ASAP or will the start date be delayed? Hire and start early May.
Will the contingent worker be working remotely or onsite, or both (if both, please confirm possible schedule)? Mostly on-site in Lafayette and Boulder with some flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week.
The Manufacturing / Equipment Design Engineer II position is part of the Advance Manufacturing Engineering department that is responsible for developing manufacturing lines for new medical products. The Equipment Design Engineer II is expected to have the appropriate experience in CAD software and machine design.
A Day in the Life:
Design assembly and test equipment using CAD software (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Define design requirements and conduct design reviews
Prototype and test designs throughout the development process
Support product design engineers with prototype builds
Participate in manufacturing planning and analysis activities
Partner with outside suppliers to develop production equipment
Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
Must Have:
BS Mechanical Engineering
3+ Years machine design experience
3+ Years CAD software experience (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Automation design experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have:
Experience in medical industry
Product design and development experience
Validation and process development experience
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects from design to implementation while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education (typically University). DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS Autonomy: Established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments. Organizational Impact: Sets objectives for own job area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments. Contributes to the completion of project milestones . May have some involvement in cross functional assignments. Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are general, and may require understanding of broader set of issues or other job areas but typically are not complex .
