The Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with production specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls; coordinates manufacturing and supply chain launch for new or revised products. This position will partner with product engineering to define manufacturing requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments. Review engineering drawings and technical documentation to ensure all requirements are met before transition to manufacturing and supply chain.
- Coordinate factory acceptance test requirements and execution.
- Develop, evaluate, and document new manufacturing processes, as well as engineering modifications to current processes.
- Provide lessons learned from product rollouts and provide recommendations for future designs and processes.
- Troubleshoot processes and improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction.
- Act as the Operations liaison to the Engineering team for resolving technical problems and provide rapid prototyping support.
- Collaborate with operators, vendors, and various cross functional team members to develop and implement tools and fixtures.
- Identify and develop key manufacturing partners with supply chain, verify technical capability, and ensure vendors can support full-scale production ramps.
- Participate in early-stage product development using DfX principals to ensure the successful capture of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Test, Installation & Service requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement activities of manufacturing processes to enhance the Quality Management System, utilizing tools such as Statistical Process Control, lean principles, problem solving, etc.
- Root cause analysis and implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
- Responsible for providing technical support to quality final test and manufacturing. Develop or update work instructions with root cause identification and solution.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement principles.
- Coordinate engineering revision changes with supply chain and inventory for efficient manufacturing changeovers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred
- Current technical skills in electro-mechanical assemblies, mixed electronics, and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with FMEA, DOE, and continual process improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledgeable in DMAIC.
- Experience designing and maintaining assembly processes and associated fixtures, tooling, and documentation.
- Sound technical judgment in solution of technical problems. Must have the ability to analyze and make data driven engineering decisions and communicate to stakeholders.
- Anticipates needs, potential risks/problems and makes decisions about how to handle issues and problems independently.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes.
- Knowledge of quality standards (ISO9001), root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, ERP/MRP systems.
- Working knowledge of 2D CAD / 3D modeling packages (i.e., Inventor, SolidWorks Creo)
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required for effective interaction with other departments, all levels of the organization, suppliers, and customers.
- Well-developed organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare documentation.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks and projects.
