About the Job
A prominent Grand Rapids area manufacturer that recently opened a brand new facility and is looking to add to their growing team. This would be with their stamping department.
Purpose: Provide technical expertise to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, ensure product quality, and support the success of manufacturing operations.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
- Experience in Design for Manufacturing/Assembly and fixture/tooling design
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially metalworking
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, including failure analysis
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred)
- Familiarity with TQM, Lean Six Sigma, and stage gate/Agile design processes
- Ability to collaborate with teams across engineering, operations, and management
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant, travel (up to 20%), and lift to 45 pounds
- Driver's license required
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute manufacturing projects
- Use Lean and Six Sigma to improve safety, quality, and cost goals
- Provide data for production and cost decisions
- Recommend equipment purchases or modifications
- Optimize workflow, space, and equipment layouts
- Work with Quality Assurance to resolve issues
- Suggest maintenance and inventory improvements
- Design fixtures, tooling, and gauges for improved operations
