Job DescriptionSTS Aerospace is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer that is accountable for improving and maintaining first pass yield for specified parts and/or processes. This is accomplished by driving continuous improvement initiatives, process development/modification, documentation of standards/best practices, and equipment onboarding/troubleshooting. Candidate shall also support cross functional initiatives with Production, Quality and Purchasing departments to meet company goals and product quality standards.
- Troubleshooting of quality issues throughout the production process: welding, brazing, nickel plating, cleaning, and borescope inspection. Additional processes: bending
- Use continuous improvement and lean techniques to increase production efficiency, eliminate waste, and drive cost savings opportunities.
- Support production staff with specification/technical knowledge, inspection techniques, weld/braze consumables management and day-to-day trouble shooting efforts
- Documentation and standardization of processes via work instructions and operating instructions to increase efficiency, facilitate cross-training and enable proper equipment usage
- Equipment and tooling on-boarding into production process to support new product, process efficiency, ergonomics or safety. Basic troubleshooting, light-level repair and/or export of orbital weld machines, orbital weld heads, steam cleaning machines, tungsten grinders etc
- Effective communication with production employees, management staff and cross-functional team to ensure the alignment of efforts to meet company goals
- Conduct classes and trainings to support continuous improvements efforts and product quality i.e. Visual Inspection and Back-to-Basics courses.
- Manage operator qualifications to ensure production staff is qualified to perform given tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented team environment
- Ability to read, interpret, translate engineering drawings and customer specifications to drive compliance

- Proven working experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a related field.
- Experience in blueprint reading and spec interpretation.
- Must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment often fast-paced and loud.
- Must be able to stand, lift, walk, bend, and reach during their shift.
- Must be comfortable wearing safety glasses.
- Work well within a team.
- Creative and innovative thinking skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
