Summary:
Direct, coordinate and actively participate in the effort to continuously improve the production system. Develop manufacturing processes, tools, machinery and plant layouts for the cost effective manufacturing of the company’s products.
Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Work with production supervisors/Managers to improve efficiencies and through-put.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 Safety certification requirements.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for problem solving.
- Keep abreast of new technology in areas of equipment, processes and automation.
- Maintain a safe work environment adhering to all safety regulations.
- Assure that all environmental regulations are followed.
- Identify methodology and processes in an effort to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Review machinery and processes to maximize capacities.
- Manage major projects using Project Management programs, including management of outside vendors to facilitate timely completion.
- Manage outside resources that have been identified with related projects.
- Use appropriate engineering studies and techniques to reduce product cost.
- Work Closely with Advanced manufacturing group to maintain a seamless transition on new equipment to production
- Lead/Assist 5S/Continuous Improvement teams during Kaizen events.
- Assist in training of personnel in new equipment start up.
- Work with all departments within and outside the plant in a professional manner to resolve such matters related to engineering.
- Troubleshoot problems as necessary.
- Support company policies and procedures.
- Use of time & motions studies to ensure optimum and accurate standards for new and existing products.
- Assist in analyzing and selecting equipment to be purchased.
- Identify processes where automation may be justified.
- Active participant in the safety program, evaluating processes and equipment for proper employee safety.
- Assist in training of personnel in new equipment start-up.
- Work with Product Engineering on manufacturability of product.
Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- BS in Mechanical, Plastics/Polymers or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 3 - 6 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of standard computer programs, including design softwares like AutoCAD, NX and/or Solidworks
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Computer skills to include SolidWorks, Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Understanding of the equipment being used on the plant floor.
Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas.
- Exposure to machine noise.
- Exposure to fumes.
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts.
- Eye and ear protection required on production floor.
- Exposure to oils and antifreeze.
