Role Description: The Manufacturing Engineer- Aluminum Products must have at least 3+ years of experience. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills, to support our aluminum products manufacturing and help drive continuous improvement in our processes.
This role reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as process owner for multiple core processes within the factory.
- Work closely with shop supervision, quality, engineering, supply chain, and factory personnel to solve problems and drive continuous improvement in your assigned process area as well as key handoffs between work cells.
- Plan and lead improvement and capital projects with cross functional support.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Master Process sheets and recipes based on documented best practices.
- Design process specific fixtures and tooling for existing products and NPI projects.
- Measure and analyze First Pass Yield information.
- Drive root cause analysis of defective hardware and data anomalies.
- Utilize data analysis tools to review, interpret, and make determinations for process compliance, identify areas for improvement, and failure analysis.
- Perform and participate in process audits including customer, 3rd party compliance (NADCAP), and supplier audits as required.
- Participate in the resolution of audit findings as needed.
- Perform oven temperature uniformity surveys as required to maintain AMS2750 compliance.
- Support resolution of survey findings as required.
- Identify, plan, and implement process improvements both individually as well as working with a team.
- Lead improvement initiatives in your area of responsibility.
- Create/Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and product specific assembly instructions for your areas of process responsibility.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action teams to support customer, internal, and supplier corrective actions.
- Leverage the 8D problem solving methodology as required.
- Seek out cost reduction and setup reduction opportunities, and work with engineering and supply chain to implement them.
- Review drawing packages and conduct tolerance analyses versus customer requirements as required and process engineering change notices for process changes using the documented ECN process.
- Obtain required customer approvals when needed.
- Seek out opportunities to leverage new technologies in equipment, material handling, environmental and process controls, and automation to improve process yield, safety, cost, and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- This is a mid-level manufacturing engineer position, 2 to 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline is required.
Desirable Experience:
- Heat Treatment and/or Vacuum Brazing (preferably Aluminum), Statistical Analysis Tools for driving continuous improvement, Solidworks & tooling design experience, NADCAP, AMS2770, experience in pyrometry (AMS 2750, TUS, SAT), layout optimization and implementation, process monitoring & improvement tools (SPC, DOE, and PFMEA).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or another related field or Equivalent
