About the Job
We are looking for an energetic Designer with manufacturing knowledge in the industrial and architectural markets. The Designer will provide world class customer service to your internal and external customers. With the title, Designer, you will be working under the direction of the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for delivery of design/build project work, from conceptual design through drawing completion.
This position will be based out of North Aurora, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Takes top level assembly drawings and provides clear details to Production for all the components, calculating material requirements, cutting sizes and quantities, by following Company Standard Processes and Drawings. Provides detailed and accurate information through the paperwork provided to Production.
- Creates flat layouts to be used for CNC programing, when necessary.
- Creates CNC programs for Amada Punching Machines and laser, insuring proper materials usage and work accuracy.
- Creates cut sheets for all the components.
- Creates and maintains Work Orders and Engineering Masters for Company’ ERP system.
- Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process.
- Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.
- Completes details and development projects by training and guiding technicians
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree.
- Sheet metal CNC programing knowledge. Preferable Amada AP-100;
- Proficient in AutoCAD. Must be able to perform basic 2D and 3D modeling operation.
- Proficient in Excel. Must be able to work with and across spreadsheets and apply basic mathematical operations.
- Creativity & spatial relationships vision, with mathematics & analytical thinking.
- Basic knowledge of sheet metal fabrication (gauges, materials, bending allowances)
- “Hands on” individual capable to work under minimum supervision.
- Excellent technical aptitude, analytical and detail oriented. Technical ability to learn a diverse product line.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadline expectations.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
Would be nice to have:
- Knowledge with ERP systems such as Visual Manufacturing, JDE or SAP.
- Knowledge with Solid Works.
- Knowledge of software programming skills in SQL and .Net
- Bachelor’s degree.
