At VCI Construction, as an Manager Telecom, you will report directly to the Director of Operations. In this role, the ideal candidate will perform work that is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the field units. The Operations Manager will carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, while managing all operational aspects of the Center.

What you’ll do as a Manager Telecom
- Provides leadership through a hands-on approach for the overall day to day operations of the Center.
- Creates and maintains good working relationships with clients, excavators and employees.
- Promotes and maintains a strong safety culture throughout the center for all employees.
- Builds and trains a team of Supervisors who are driven and understand the key performance indicators and economic engines of the business.
- Conducts daily and weekly planning meetings to ensure quality control is in place.
- Active part of the financial forecast process and budget preparation.
- Works to reduce unnecessary expenses, damages and risk for company liability in auto accidents and workers’ compensation cases.
- Conducts performance reviews and provides regular performance feedback and development opportunities for employees.
- Observes activities to ensure compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
- Performs investigations as needed, resolves issues and concerns in partnership with other departments for resolution.
- Collaborates with company senior leadership to implement policies and administrative procedures.
- Reviews daily and weekly scorecards and communicates expectations to field techs to ensure performance metrics achieved.
- Validates and approves daily personnel time reports in UKG
- Represent the company at various damage prevention forums and community meetings
- Develops technicians and has the overall responsibility for employee engagement and morale.
- Overlook and approve day to day load management activity.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- BS/BA degree preferred
- Two (2) or more years of management and/or supervisory experience required.
- Utility locating experience or related industry experience preferred.
- Advanced technical skills with various computer applications and experience using Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with attention to detail, individually and collaboratively in a team, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize workflow
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals at all levels and areas within the organization
- Ability to be flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Exemplary communication skills with the ability to present and consult with all levels throughout financial and executive leadership
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills
Additional qualifications
Must have 3 years management experience in underground and overhead construction.
Must pass extensive background investigation, DMV background and drug screen.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Salary Range $91,000 -$109,000 / year
