Our Augusta, GA MRO facility is expanding rapidly with a $33 million investment in new facilities, doubling our footprint and capabilities. We specialize in Business Aviation, servicing a range of 22 aircraft models and performing comprehensive overhauls on Honeywell HTF7000 and TFE731 engines. As part of our growth, we’re seeking a skilled Technical Training Manager to lead our training and development initiatives.
About the Role:
The Technical Training Manager will be a key player in our continuous improvement strategy, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing technical training programs for our maintenance team. This role focuses on delivering best-in-class training to ensure our workforce is skilled, certified, and equipped to meet the high standards of aircraft maintenance.
What You Will Do:
- Develop & Implement Training Programs: Design and manage comprehensive technical training programs for aircraft maintenance, including airframe, engine, and avionics troubleshooting.
- Facilitate Training Sessions: Lead training sessions, including “train the trainer” programs, to enhance internal learning capabilities.
- Skills Assessment & Gap Analysis: Conduct individual and team skills assessments, identify gaps, and prioritize learning needs.
- Create Training Matrices: Establish training requirements and matrices for various roles, ensuring consistent competency development.
- Manage Training Records: Implement a tracking system for all training activities, maintaining compliance and accurate documentation.
- Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Gather feedback from participants and assess training outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Partner with business leaders to align training initiatives with organizational goals and operational needs.
- Leverage External Vendors: Identify and engage strong external training vendors to supplement in-house programs when necessary.
- Apply Industry Best Practices: Utilize proven methodologies in learning and instructional design to create impactful training experiences.
- Lead & Support the Team: Provide leadership and foster a positive training environment that supports engagement and career development.
Basic Qualifications:
- Formal Organizational Leadership training background (academic or on-the-job)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with a focus on airframe, engine, and/or avionics systems.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Adult Learning, or a related field preferred.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Experience in enterprise-wide training initiatives and systems thinking.
- Proven experience in Learning & Development and instructional design, with a strong track record of leading complex projects.
- Deep understanding of aircraft maintenance processes and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to execute training programs from concept to completion.
