Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering 2 to join the sector Supplier Performance Management Team. This position will lead a team of Supplier Performance Field Engineers on the west coast. The team is highly engaged with multiple GSC Category Management teams.
The ideal candidate can reside in San Diego or Woodland Hills, California. 25% travel required.
As a key leader of the Supplier Performance Management team, this leader collaborates closely with the division facing Supplier Quality/Performance managers, Quality & Mission Excellence, GSC, and Programs to provide strategic thought leadership and preventive solutions to ensure the quality of procured material and services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success leading teams, meeting and exceeding internal customer expectations, working with various disciplines within the aerospace industry as well as suppliers with a consistent focus on positioning the team for success. The position requires a solution-based individual, unwavering ethics and values, and the demonstrated ability to be a trusted partner.
What You'll Get to do:
+ Manage a supplier quality field engineering team to oversee the general quality performance of suppliers across commodity types, including Cables and Connectors, RF products, Microelectronics, CCAs, PWBs and Mechanical categories. Ensure organizational policies, procedures and work instructions are best in class and effectively and efficiently implemented.
+ Lead field engineering team to assess suppliers during First Article Inspection as well as customer source inspection to support sector requirements.
+ Manage audit schedule and their completion to satisfaction. Evaluate suppliers’ manufacturing processes, quality systems, and product performance for compliance.
+ Provide clear assignments, help employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, create an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect, valuing of differences, and creating and maintaining a culture that motivates employees to perform at their best.
+ Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and related data points to identify and pursue systemic improvement opportunities with our supply base.
+ Develop organizational strategies to improve supplier quality performance, resourcing, and create efficiencies. Work to clear obstacles for the team and the NGMS organization to position us, our suppliers and our programs for success.
+ Serve as leader to develop appropriate metrics to drive process and performance improvements. Well versed in the development and assessment of RCCA’s. Depth of knowledge in industry RCCA tools and methodologies.
+ Collaboratively develop tools to improve efficiencies within the organization and improve visibility for both internal SQ and QME/GSC/PMO partners
+ Serve as leader within Supplier Quality organization to ensure progress to organizational improvement initiatives.
+ Develop and instill data-driven processes to measure supplier quality performance. Assess tools and methodologies for product and process inspections and assessments today and continue to improve and evolve from a state of the art and innovative perspective.
+ Promote the professional development of the Supplier Quality team and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement. Provide ongoing training and development for both internal teams and suppliers to improve quality assurance processes, enhance technical knowledge and stay current with evolving industry trends.
+ Understand various manufacturing and test processes (e.g. conformal coating, plating, microelectronic manufacturing processes and methods, including wire bonding, die attach, die manufacturing, electronic packaging, SMT and PWB processes, environmental and electrical testing, etc.) to ensure proper support of suppliers and development of personnel.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, technical, manufacturing, operations program management, or other related discipline.
+ a minimum of 9 years of industry experience in Program or Project Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.
+ Experience in source inspection, FAI, supplier audits and data driven process improvements.
+ Experience with High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
+ Experience in SAP required.
+ Experience in communicating cross-functionally across teams-- including briefing upper management on a regular basis.
+ Experience in strong leadership characteristics and ability to lead of team of diverse technical talent
+ Working knowledge in ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System. Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
+ Ability to interpret drawings, drawing notes, industrial specifications, and GD&T requirements.
+ Experience with RCCA and problem-solving.
+ Experience in the oversight and management of suppliers, supplier evaluations and supplier metrics reporting.
+ Demonstrated experience in program / product lifecycle in the areas of supply chain management, operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.
+ US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in an engineering or management field. Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering are highly preferred
+ 2 or more years of experience managing and/or leading teams.
+ Defense Industry experience as a Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Engineering Manager or Supply Chain Manager,
+ ASQ CQE/CQM certification, Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.

Salary Range: $142,200 - $213,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
