Summary of Position
The General Manager is responsible for the day to day and long term operations and financial success of a Coffee Cup Fuel Stop Travel Plaza. They achieve this by providing outstanding leadership and support to the team by being a strong, visible, credible store leader. They are also responsible for driving productivity standards in all work centers, managing payroll costs, managing inventory levels and building a team people love to be on which in turn guarantees great guest service.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Own and champion a Coffee Cup Travel Plaza brand presentation for the entire store
- Manage a team of 15 to 60 team members
- Work to attain maximum profits, sales, return on investment, market share, guest goodwill, and community goodwill and team member satisfaction.
- Hire, train, motivate, mentor and develop team members to meet company standards
- Build an atmosphere which demonstrates pride in team work and serving our guests
- Direct all merchandising, operational and personnel functions
- Uphold the quality and productivity of every aspect of the store
- Identifies current and future guest requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual guests and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
- Markets merchandise by understanding their retail market, seasonal trends, analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
- Protect team members and guests by providing a safe and clean store environment
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Preferred minimum of 5 years in the truck stop travel plaza, convenience store, or retail industry.
- Minimum 3 years management experience preferred.
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree.
- Strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and people oriented focus.
- Ability to accept and drive change
- Entrepreneurial mindset.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to properly lift, pull, and/or push up to 50 pounds in the stocking and merchandising of the store inventory. Perform basic mathematical calculations. Must be able to stand up for an entire eight (8) hour shift. Standing, stooping and bending as necessary to stock and inventory merchandise.
