Description
Under the direction of the Operations Director Sports Medicine and in collaboration with SMI leadership, the Manager of DME Services will be responsible for developing and implementing a best in class system wide DME program. This will focus on oversight of all DME locations, product offering and DME office staff.
What You Will Do- Communicate and regularly attend meetings with all department leadership across the system to improve Orthopedics and Sports medicine DME relationships.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining positive relationships with the physicians, staff and other UH corporate staff. This includes but not limited to Revenue Cycle, Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Managers, Centers of Excellence Managers, AP and Purchasing Management
- Research expansion potential throughout the health system through analysis of department capacity, system cost savings analysis, profitability and resource availability
- Foster relationships with all Vendors for pricing, software upgrades and product line expansion to ensure we are financially responsible
- Visit all UH DME locations for oversite of process and physician/staff visibility; understanding this number is continuously increasing with UH expansion.
- Physician Liaison
• Present updates on DME at Physician meetings
• Oversee the education of the physicians on the program itself and to act as a resource
• Liaison for physician and brace representatives
• Assist physicians in problem solving for bracing solutions to best suit patient needs
• Facilitator for new products that the physician would like to have added to inventory
• Continuing development of DME guidelines for physicians for billing and documentation - Oversee reporting related to:
◦ Inventory/ Shrinkage
◦ Billing/ AR/ Denials
◦ Physician usage
◦ Expenses/AP/ Purchasing/ - Salary and budget management for DME department
- Recruitment, hiring, and training related DME supervisor, OT staff and billing staff. Also responsible for the management of staff evaluations and corrective action.
- Assist in continuing development of the DME Guidelines for MA’s, ATC’s, and Physical Therapy staff, and DME Orthopedic Technicians throughout the University Hospitals Health system at each location UH DME is present.
- Coordinate all initial and ongoing training of DME Coordinators
- Oversee all continuing education for DME Staff
- Schedule consistent meetings with the DME Supervisor/ Coordinator
◦ DME troubleshooting problems
◦ Disciplinary problems
◦ Updates on DME weekly processes
◦ Brainstorming sessions to improve existing process
◦ Consider any abnormalities that present monthly
◦ Maintain positive relationships and teambuilding exercises - Ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards
- Oversee and update of policy and procedure for DME Program
- Oversee updates to JHACO manuals and preparation for JHACO visits and requirements
- Assess potential to further expand DME services and management into other service lines, ie. Urology, Sleep Medicine, Emergency Medicine, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
- Athletic Trainer (Required) and
- Orthotic Technician (Required) and
- Physical Therapist (Required) and
- Occupational Therapist (Required)
- 5+ years of experience as an athletic trainer, orthotics technician or physical therapist for a service line in a complex and large healthcare setting (Required) and
- 3+ years Management experience in a healthcare setting (Required) and
- Experience with EMR (Required)
- Strong analytical skills related to data and process improvement. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work independently. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrated results driving utilization of downstream services, effecting change related to quality delivery, etc. (Required proficiency)
- Must exercise creativity and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients. (Required proficiency)
- Confident, motivated self-starter and demonstrate flexibility, initiative, patient focus and the ability to handle stress. (Required proficiency)
- Must have excellent working skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Preferred experience using databases, Visionware, Soarian Financials, Oracle Databases and Kronos. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of Sports Medicine athletic training programming and duties as outlined in the duties listed above (Required proficiency)
- Must be Certified Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio, Orthotics Technician, Occupational Therapist (Required) and
- Physical Therapist. (Required)
