About the Job
The Manager role will educate and empower the agile mindset, methods and tools to enable a refined quality of delivery while maintaining focus on the continuous improvement of the team. Collaborate with managers to ensure that resource allocation aligns with organizational goals and project needs. Stand up multiple teams simultaneously and work to become effective, efficient and eventually self-sustainable in the use of agile practices and organizational tools. Act as a key member to assist the organization with launching, stabilizing and optimizing program level and portfolio level teams while adapting and promoting Agile frameworks, principles and practices.
Responsibilities:- Manage the capacity and workload distribution for a team ensuring that is appropriately assigned based on skills and experience
- Set standards on agile reporting, dashboards and metrics and works with teams to adopt them
- Create and implement processes and procedures for agile best practices across the organization and create a roadmap for continuous process improvement
- Advise departments and agile teams through the agile transformation by working with leaders to define strategies for transitioning each team to agile practices & mindsets
- Evaluate and prepare candid reports for leaders and team members to identify barriers to successful adopt and deliver and lead workshops and training sessions to educate on agile values, principles, and practices
- Develop an educational framework for the organization to coach, train and mentor teams such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Developers of any technical orientation and work continuously on team dynamics, communication, and process to overcome agile maturity gaps
- Establish and govern workflows in Azure DevOps and train managers and/or team leads on how to maintain these visualization & tracking tools including dashboards & queries
- Create flexible practices and tool workflows to adapt to a changing organizational operating model
- Drive the creation of key team and sprint/iteration health metrics to create transparency in team functionality. Design and conduct agile maturity assessments to document maturity of assigned agile teams and make recommendations to team leaders in defining roles and responsibilities and working agreements
- Support ART teams and RTEs in continuous agile growth by participating and observing teams in release planning, PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt, Scrum of Scrums, and other ceremonies. Consult on how to best provide scrum team statistics, identify project dependencies, team capacity, velocity forecasts, burndowns/burn-ups, dashboards, and program board updates
- Partner with the Project Management Office (PMO) and the Enterprise Portfolio team on the intake demand process, program execution and operational excellence
- Plan, oversee and lead the work of the team to meet functional and individual operational objectives and goals. Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Responsible for hire, fire, performance, discipline and problem resolution decisions
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree - Computer Science or Related - Minimum
- Graduate Degree -MBA or related - Preferred
- 7 years - Agile Framework, Scrum Master Agile Coach or Related - Minimum
- 3 years - People Management - Preferred
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, especially Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.)
Knowledge of large-scale complex technology projects and coordinating one or more Agile teams
In Lieu of Education:
- 10 years - Agile Framework, Scrum Master, Agile Coach including People Management
License/Certifications/Training:
- Required: Scrum Professional - Scrum Master (CSP-SM)
- Preferred: Scrum Professional – Product Owner (CSP-PO)
- Preferred: SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
- Preferred: Certified Scrum Coach (CSC), Certified Agile Coach (CAC) or related
