SUMMARY
Manages a team of 16+ employees to meet team and departmental goals. Works directly with the VP, Reimbursement to ensure that all responsibilities are in accordance with the organizations policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including administration metrics related to productivity and quality are met. Also oversees team workflow, operational guidance, and counseling on issues to ensure that the daily work of the team is completed accurately and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
* Manages Supervisors and ensures they plan, organize and manage the day to day reimbursement operations of the team. Maintains and improves department quality and productivity standards.
* Develops policies and procedures. Implements best practices and drives initiatives to improve cash flow, efficiency, AR, and staff performance.
* Hires, and develops staff. Plans, directs, and supervises staff to ensure timely, accurate and complete adjudication of claims while ensuring all quality and production goals are met.
* Oversees training on relevant systems, department standards, expectations, and procedures. Conducts performance evaluation of staff. Resolves employee relations issues and recommends disciplinary action when required.
* Stays current with changes in billing/reimbursement regulations. Collaborates with peers on operational performance and changes needed.
* Gathers and reviews data, analyzes results, and prepares reports.
* Maintains strict confidentiality.
* Upholds management goals of corporation by leading staff in team concepts and promoting a team effort.
* Maintains effective personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating the performance of all personnel; approving and submitting all hours worked and counseling and disciplining employees.
* Recruits, trains, develops, and supervises personnel.
* Actively promotes GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
* Effectively communicates expectations; accepts accountability and holds others accountable for performance.
* Regular and reliable attendance is required for the job.
Qualifications/Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Requirements include:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years experience in managing/supervising a staff of 20, and excellent communication skills are essential.
* Expert and working knowledge of governmental and commercial insurance billing/reimbursement requirements.
* Oversee multiple, complex projects while simultaneously motivating team to produce quality results within required timeframes.
* Employee development and performance management skills.
* Ability to use copier, fax machine, printer, calculator and multi-line telephone.
* Must be proficient with computers with an understanding of medical billing software.
* Advanced knowledge of medical terminology as well as knowledge of government and private insurer rules and regulations.
* Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and HCPCS coding, as well as in-depth knowledge of medical billing requirements.
* Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to utilize the internet, specifically Medicare and Medicaid websites. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in regards to HIPAA rules and regulations, as well as private company matters.
