As the Manager, R&D for our Specialty Gas product line, you will be responsible for managing a team of talented R&D Scientists, with a focus on identifying unsolved customer problems and executing on development plans to address those needs. You will lead research and development activities in alignment with the strategic direction of the business, drive excellence and develop standard practices in order to reduce research and development time and cost.
This position is based out of our Danbury, CT facility.
In this role you will:- Establish a research and development strategy that drives business objects, in alignment with internal and external technology roadmaps
- Identify and manage the implementation of process and capability improvements
- Foster internal and external technical relationships by proactively interacting with key stakeholders
- Drive successful project execution to meet deadlines and R&D team goals
- Drive data-based decision making across the team and organization
- Foster innovation and drive accountability in intellectual property protection
- Manage the idea funnel and ensure a robust pipeline of technical opportunities that are aligned to the business unit strategic objectives
- Create a collaborative culture with an emphasis on teamwork inside the R&D department and with key support groups across other areas
- Manage alignment of technical talent to match business needs; make appropriate resource allocation/prioritization decisions, and advocate for additional resources when gaps arise
- Be recognized as a technical leader within the Specialty Gasses Business Unit
- Select, develop, and coach a diverse, talented team
- Be committed to the individual development of direct reports
- Model company PACE values—lead by example and hold others accountable
- A PhD or M.S. in Chemistry or similar area of study is required; MBA is a plus
- Minimum of 5-years progressive technical experience in the Specialty Gas industry
- At least 2 years of demonstrated technical team management or project lead experience
- Experience building teams and setting a strategic direction for an organization strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence others, at all levels within the organization
- Strong business acumen with the ability to consider technical direction with a commercial and customer focus
- On-time delivery of new capabilities and products to the market in order to meet technical requirements
- Your ability to provide strategic vision that is supported with resources and a plan
- Your commitment to growing the organization through consistent team, individual, and personal development plans
- Ability to provide technical guidance and act as key contact for the Specialty Gas business unit and our customers

- Pay Range: The salary range for this role is estimated at $110,000-$150,000, with actual salary flexible based on candidate’s qualifications and experience
