Strategic Importance of this Role to the Company
The Manager, Production is strategically important to the success of the production operations of the Tulsa Manufacturing Plant (TMP). The role is critical to achieving departmental and company objectives to ensuring a safe work environment for all employees and visitors in the production facility, improving throughput, and working with colleagues to improve in other areas. This role supervises several Production Supervisors at TMP.
Objective
Ensure that TDW's Tulsa Manufacturing Plant safely and with a high level of quality, makes products at the lowest possible cost.
Key Results Area
As the Manager, Production at TMP, you are responsible for leading a 125+ employee team to safely and effectively manufacture TDW's products. You will be a vital team member of Team 1 for Product Operations (your peer group). It is expected that you effectively collaborate with your peers and provide an environment where the department can succeed as a team. You will drive results daily by ensuring a safe work environment, improving quality & throughput, and working across departmental lines to achieve company objectives.
Develop your team to become problem solvers (40%)
- Spend considerable time coaching your directs and high potentials (1 level down in organization) in concepts that they can apply in their daily work
- Use the Socratic method in a humble way to develop your people. Kata and other methodologies are great ways to accomplish this
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly cadences with your team to review OKRs, KPIs, and to communicate important information
- Listen to the needs of your team and your internal customers
Collaborate with leaders and team members to improve the plant (30%)
- Make time for your peers in different departments to listen to their needs and put plans in place to support
- Take extreme ownership of your department and outcomes
- Develop regular cadences with key leaders and other employees
Drive the vision for Manufacturing (20%)
- Make time to think about what the plant could be
- Put tangible actions in place to take steps towards the vision regularly
- Communicate the vision for Equipment and Fittings Assembly, Welding, and Machining to the appropriate stakeholders
- Hire A-Players, develop your leaders, and set high standards in all you do
Develop yourself (10%)
- Make time to stay current on new methodologies in manufacturing
- Learn new skills and encourage your leaders and others to do the same
- Make time to be a part of Team 1 training sessions
Key Performance Indicators
Lead Measures-Critical Driver's (Do This):
- Number of Hazard IDs entered and solved
- CONWIP level compliance
- Auditing critical to quality attributes (the inputs) on major product types
Lag Measures-Key Performance Indicators (Achieve This):
- Number of Safe Days Worked and Total Incident Recordable Rate (TRIR)
- Throughput (revenue) and On-Time Delivery targets achieved
- Cost of Failure reductions, reduced risk of product escapes (the outputs)

Experience
- Bachelor's degree with 5-7+ years manufacturing or related experience
- Process improvement experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S is desired
- Good leadership, team building, and organizational capabilities
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in regard to personnel and business needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication
