Reports To: Director, Executive Director of Patient Care Services, or Vice President of Nursing
Job Summary:
The PACU RN Manager of Patient Services oversees the daily operations of the department, ensuring high-quality, efficient patient care. This role involves managing staff, contributing to policy development, and acting as a liaison with other departments. The manager provides leadership during designated shifts and promotes a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork.

Responsibilities:
Patient Care Management
- Monitor care delivery to ensure high-quality and appropriate nursing care.
- Ensure availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and other resources.
- Review patient medical records for completeness and accuracy in electronic documentation.
Staff and Resource Management
- Coordinate staff schedules, addressing short- and long-term staffing needs.
- Approve payroll and ensure compliance with scheduling guidelines.
- Assist in service recovery by resolving patient and family concerns promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with the Educator to assess and address staff training, orientation, and skill validation needs.
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model, supporting staff in skill development and conflict resolution.
Operational Leadership
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff members.
- Conduct performance appraisals, coaching, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Lead Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance initiatives within the department.
- Provide input on capital and operating budgets and implement cost-saving measures.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of departmental goals, policies, and standards of care.
- Conduct department meetings and participate in hospital and community committees.
Professional Development and Other Duties
- Complete job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Maintain personal competence and advance the department's effectiveness.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Attend department meetings and remain accountable for shared information.
- Fulfill mandatory education, competencies, and health requirements within specified timeframes.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications, including BCLS (CPR), and any position-specific requirements.
- Consistently use universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards and organizational policies.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work additional shifts or overtime as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Licensure: Active RN license in Indiana preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience, with preference given to candidates who have prior leadership experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of nursing care practices, equipment, and departmental procedures.
- Effective management skills, including resource allocation and team promotion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to foster collaboration and disseminate information.
- Advanced planning and organizational skills for project management and team coordination.
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving capabilities.
Working Conditions:
- The environment includes physical exertion, variable job demands, and potential biohazard exposure.
- Flexibility is required for a 24/7 departmental operation.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is possible.
