8:30a – 5:00p / Full Time / 40 Hours
The Pharmacy Manager of Pharmacy Supply Chain and Drug Shortage Management is responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of medications and supplies within the healthcare system. This role ensures the availability of medications, manages drug shortages, and implements strategies to optimize the supply chain process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supply Chain Management: a. Develop and implement strategies to optimize the supply chain process. b. Collaborate with vendors, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations (GPOs) to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of medications and supplies. c. Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstock situations and optimize inventory turns. d. Monitor and provide monthly reports on performance metrics and pharmacy supply chain initiatives. 2. Drug Shortage Management: a. Monitor local and national drug shortages and implement tactics to maintain supplies. b. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate the impact of drug shortages on patient care. c. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and other stakeholders to implement necessary changes to purchasing and automation systems. d. Maintain an emergency medication supply for critically short items. 3. Compliance and Quality Assurance: a. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). b. Conduct routine audits of procurement activities to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures. c. Develop and oversee quality assurance activities related to supply chain and drug shortage management. d. Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for supply chain operations, tracking, and reporting. e. Provide monthly reports of contract compliance and top 100 drug purchases. 4. Leadership and Collaboration: a. Provide leadership and direction to the pharmacy supply chain team. b. Collaborate with other pharmacy managers, clinical pharmacists, and healthcare providers to optimize medication use and improve patient outcomes. c. Participate in professional activities and organizations to stay current with industry trends and best practices. 5. Financial Management: a. Analyze and report on financial performance related to supply chain activities. b. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Minimum Qualification:
+ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field. + Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role. + Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and best practices. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. + Strong negotiation and communication skills. + Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools. + Experience with Lean methodologies and process improvement. + Proven track record of driving performance improvement initiatives. + Experience in inventory management and optimization.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in supply chain management or a related field. + Pharmacy supply chain experience. + Professional certification in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM)..
