About the Job
The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) is seeking a Manager of Education and Professional Resources to play a pivotal role in coordinating the educational programs and professional affairs of the organization. This position works closely with the Education Committee and Residency Collaborative leadership to ensure the successful planning, development, and execution of educational activities, convention programming, and speaker management.
The Manager will oversee the management of the Learning Management System (LMS) for residency programs, administer grant projects, and ensure timely reporting of credit hours for GAFP members. Additionally, the role will involve the execution of various educational tasks and supporting the smooth operation of internal functions related to education.
This individual will contribute to the success of GAFP’s educational and professional development efforts by supporting the Executive Vice President and assisting with a wide range of administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with GAFP members to support the mission of the GAFP.
- Manage continuing education (CE) programs, including speaker outreach, development of learning objectives, and preparation of documents required by the Accreditation Counsel for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
- Collaborate with the Education Council to review presentation materials, ensuring alignment with ACCME accreditation standards.
- Monitor the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) educational portal for program submission and approval.
- Develop and manage educational activities on GAFP’s Learning Management System (LMS) for the Residency Collaborative.
- Coordinate speaker engagement and manage speaker payments in collaboration with GAFP’s CPA.
- Lead the planning and administration of continuing education programming, including the identification of course offerings, exploration of new educational formats, and ensuring compliance with ACCME and State of Georgia continuing education provider standards.
- Work closely with the Event Management Specialist to ensure seamless execution of sponsored and co-sponsored educational programs, organizational meetings, and events.
- Partner with the Digital Marketing Specialist to market and promote educational programs.
- Oversee the successful completion of educational events, including issuing participant credentials, ensuring record retention compliance, conducting program evaluations, and reporting results to relevant agencies.
- Serve as staff liaison and provide support to various GAFP committees, including the residency collaborative, and the GAFP Educational Affairs Council. Duties include coordinating agendas and other activities.
- Administer the Continuing Education Department budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in health sciences, adult education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of experience in educational training, program management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong initiative, creative problem-solving skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with data analysis to support decision-making.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, forward-thinking, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Experience in project management and meeting planning is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of educational training and meeting planning.
- A basic understanding of pharmacy issues is a plus but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
