Our Technology team has 6 different departments: Information Security, Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, eCommerce & Marketing Technology, Data and Stores, Services & Supply Chain.

About the Location:Hybrid Position:
This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.
About the Job:PetSmart is at a key inflection point in our Digital journey and we’re looking for a leader who is excited by the opportunity to chart and enact our vision for the future. In this role, you will be managing a team of skilled Integration/Backend engineers who designs, develops, and maintains critical customer-facing integration and backend services. You will be responsible for driving innovation, optimizing performance, and ensuring the security and reliability of the integrations. An ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and architectures, particularly within the eCommerce and omnichannel retail industry. They are passionate about continuous improvement and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable integration solutions.
Responsibilities
- Attract and retain a talented, diverse, high performing team of Integration/backend engineers.
- Mentor and develop team members to foster growth and continuous improvement.
- Plan and manage team capacity within the context of a matrixed organization.
- Establish effective partnerships with agencies and staff augmentation providers to scale team capacity as needed
- Contribute to the technical discovery, planning, and oversight for key projects
- Collaborate with architects and other technical leads to define technical strategies and roadmaps.
- Propose and enact innovative ideas to improve velocity, quality, and enable new capabilities aligned with our strategic direction.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Constantly pursue and learn industry leading/innovative engineering best practices/tools and stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
- Review and approve technical designs and code and provide technical guidance and advocate best practices in high-level system designs and solutions to complex problems.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including leadership, business partners, and team members.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as an Integration/backend engineer, with a demonstrated progression of increasing seniority and leadership experience.
- Possess a deep understanding of backend and integration technologies such as.NET TIBCO including design, development, and troubleshooting.
- In-depth knowledge of API management concepts and experience with Apigee and cloud-native technologies preferably GCP.
- 3+ years of experience in an eCommerce/Retail environment
- 5+ years of experience in application integration, solution design, and support
- Experience with various API design patterns and technologies.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Must have:
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with either .net or TIBCO.
- At least 1 year of working experience with data products like data bricks, Snowflake etc.,
- Experience with any Major cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure and AWS. Preferably GCP.
Plus/Nice to Haves:
- Familiar with digital experience and eCommerce tools, such as Commerce Tools.
- Experience with GitHub, SonarQube, Jira and confluence.
- Experience with Commerce Tools and understanding of composable and MACH architecture.
- Understanding of the GCP environment.
- Understanding of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, RESTful APIs, HTTP, and networking concepts
