The Machine Shop Manager will oversee the day to day activities of Calspan Machine Shop including coordination and prioritization of tasks, supervision of machinists, and maintaining the facility.

Responsibilities:Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.
- Manage in alignment with our Company Values. Lead with the intent to create a respectful and healthy work culture that embraces inclusion. Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for accomplishments of department functions.
- Review incoming work orders and drawings to ensure that information is complete and accurate. Provide estimated completion dates. Manage daily activity of machinists providing work assignments and tracking progress. Coordinate shop maintenance activities.
- Assist machinists to ensure machine setups will meet objectives. Review completed work for dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Support execution of testing operations in accurate and efficient manner. Define project requirements, including deliverables and constraints, designing and developing a solution and conducting necessary activities to confirm and validate solution.
- Create, support & maintain engineering data and/or drawings, including layouts, three-dimensional models, and structural analyses. Ensure designs and data/analyses/drawings are accurate, integrated, clearly communicated and complete.
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline;
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design and or machine shop practice;
- Previous experience in supervisory position or;
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above;
- Due to the security requirements for this position, US Citizenship is required
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Proficient in machining practice, heat treating, and materials selection;
- Experience with CNC programming and CAD;
- Strong analytical skills in the area of machine design and stress analysis;
- Perform complex design, layout, test and evaluation of mechanical and electromechanical systems and components;
- Proven record of accomplishment in solving difficult problems;
- Application of project management practices (metrics, tracking, etc.);
- Ability to clearly communicate objectives to staff and customers;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across all disciplines.

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications. Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.

Salary Range (min):USD $87,000.00/Yr.Salary Range (max):USD $130,000.00/Yr.
