Overview:The Manager of K9 Security reports to the Director of Building Security and is primarily responsible for the 24/7 safety and security of the Rhode Island Convnetion Center and Amica Mutual Pavillion. The Manager is responsible for oversight of the K9 security program, threat assesment, and detection of the venue and surrounding areas.
This role will pay a salary of $60,000-$63,000.

About the Venue:
The Rhode Island Convention Center (RICC) is located in the heart of Providence’s downtown. The RICC features 100,000 square feet of flexible exhibit space and an additional 67,000 square feet of ballroom, breakout and meeting spaces. Capable of hosting trade shows, consumer shows, exhibits, receptions, banquets, meetings, tournaments and competitions, and, of course, conventions, event planners will enjoy a collaborative partnership with our knowledgeable and professional staff. The RICC is connected to the Amica Mutual Pavilion and the 564-room Omni Providence Hotel, and in turn, Providence Place, a downtown shopping destination filled with big-name retailers and an assortment of dining and entertainment options. Known to locals as "The AMP PVD," the 14,000-seat Amica Mutual Pavilion (formerly the Dunkin' Donuts Center) is home to the AHL Providence Bruins and the Big East Providence College Friars. The arena hosts sporting events, major concerts, family shows and trade shows.
Responsibilities:- Play a key role in the preparation and planning for all events at RICC and AMP.
- Develop goals and objectives for the Building Security function ensuring that key objectives are met.
- Oversee a team of security officers
- Effectively train, coach, develop, and retain talent, understanding their needs and helping them meet professional goals.
- Manage training, housing, and care for K9s.
- Handle K9s for threat assesment and detection.
- Ensure day-to-day operational activities are managed effectively and meet efficiency and customer satisfaction standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures with continuous improvement mindset.
- Prepare required daily and periodic reports regarding operational and day to day activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and follow up of all incident reporting.
- Must stay Informed of critical events and be able to adjust operating procedures accordingly.
- Ensure employees adhere to safety and health policies and procedures to protect employees against workplace hazards.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive experience relating to venue security and facility operations.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive supervisory management experience, preferably in a union environment.
- Minimum 3 years of K9 handling in safety and security role.
- Technical knowledge in areas of Access Control and CCTV.
- Strong interpersonal skills with customer service focus.
- Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.
- Highly organized with excellent project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to lead, give clear and concise direction, and provide feedback to staff.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required
- Position will require working occasional nights and weekends.
