About the Job
About This Role:
The College of Agriculture/K-State Research & Extension’s Business Services Unit is looking for a Manager, Human Resources, to provide smooth workflow, uninterrupted services, and process improvements for HR areas.
This position will serve as a strategic consultant for the College & KSRE leadership and oversee the execution of human resource processes. The incumbent will lead and direct the administration in the day-to-day operations of the assigned area of responsibility related to human resources. This position will monitor staffing plans and employee metrics to design and recommend efficiencies and improvements for the College & KSRE as well as execute employee personnel actions and administer HR policy and procedure.
The Manager, HRprovides direction and communication to support the department/unit. Additionally, they will conduct assessments in order to design improvements to department programs and work to ensure thestaff and students have an understanding of programs that are available. This position reports to the appropriate administrator. Below are some of the duties required, additional HR duties may be assigned as needed:
40% Strategic HR Management:

Design and implement HR business processes that fit college and KSRE needs.

Serve as a strategic consultant and partner to college and KSRE leadership in determining staffing needs.

Ensure staffing alignment across departments and units as appropriate.

Develop metrics to measure effectiveness of HR programs and processes and recommend and implement improvements.

Provide input into budget decisions related to college and KSRE human resources.

Regularly communicate with constituents regarding HR updates, reminders and reports.
40% Manage HR Actions and Processes:

Oversee all components of HR processes at the college level to include performance management, recruitment, onboarding, exit interviews, time and leave, contract management, pay administration, payroll, benefits and training and professional development.

Work closely with central Employee Relations and Engagement to understand handoffs and make appropriate recommendations to units.

Serve as the college/KSRE liaison to the university’s central HR team, working closely with each area to ensure alignment.

Ensure all operational activities managed by the HR hub are executed within the university’s established policies and practices.

Understand funding sources and how they impact use of funds for staffing.
15% Staff Leadership:

Plan, monitor, assign and evaluate the work of staff and modify as needed to accomplish goals and objectives while instilling a customer-focused service attitude within the team.

Evaluate performance, identify development opportunities, and provide constructive feedback and coaching. Facilitate employee skill development necessary to meet current and future objectives of the team. Model motivational and coaching strategies.

Serve as a mentor to team members.
5% Other Duties:

Represent the college on university committees and task forces as needed.

Contribute to college goals and projects.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of relevant experience.
