Wieland is hiring a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager will work closely with the Director of HR, providing support for a wide range of HR areas. This position, with the support of an HR Generalist and/or HR Coordinator, is responsible for day-to-day operations of Human Resource functions for all business unit colleagues. This role is located in East Alton, IL. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (less than 10%).

Strategy
- Develop Human Resources strategies aligned with Company and business unit objectives.
- Participate in business unit leadership meetings, including staff meetings, budget preparation, and strategic planning.
- Lead people, support and lead cultural organizational needs, and create career growth opportunities that support employee engagement and retention objectives.
People/Culture
- Serve as a trusted advisor, providing coaching and counseling to employees seeking support and guide management in HR-related matters.
- Resolve employee relations issues and complaints. Interface with employees and management to identify issues, perform or support internal investigations, and liaise with necessary parties for a suitable resolution.
- Plan and manage employee engagement events and activities.
- Connect with the local community including participation with the Chamber of Commerce, and local school system.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team for recruitment, pre-employment screening, and onboarding.
- Collaborate with the Talent Management / Learning and Development team on initiatives to support employee development, performance evaluations, succession planning, and compliance training.
- Collaborate with the Benefits team to support all aspects of employee benefits, leave of absence management, and wellness initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR Shared Services & Compensation team on merit recommendation process and incentive compensation planning process for salaried employees.
- Partner with Labor Relations Director and Operations Management on labor-related issues including union grievances, contract interpretation, and negotiations (where applicable).
- Partner with leadership to communicate organizational changes, build culture, and develop people.
- Partner with supervisors and site leaders to recommend people's best practices – Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law/regulation.
- Partner with Safety and site leaders to support and facilitate safety programs and manage worker's compensation claims.
Administration
- Oversee HR direct reports and their duties including onboarding, compliance training, HRIS updates, and form administration, employee file maintenance, and community events.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of onboarding & orientation.
- Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation.
- Administration of disciplinary actions for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Manage annual performance review and merit compensation process for hourly employees.
- Draft and update job descriptions and site-specific policies.
Human Resources ManagerQualifications:
- B.S. degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- HR Certification preferred (SHRM-CP, SPHR)
- 5+ years of HR-related management experience with broad knowledge in employee relations
- Prior experience in manufacturing and/or union environment preferred
