Job Summary:
Supermicro Computer's Hardware Designing team is looking for an experienced technical manager with extensive board design knowledge to be involved in the design and development of motherboards - which is the core component of our server products. The Hardware Design Manager will work with cross-functional teams to design high performance and cutting edge motherboards, building upon the fundamentals of our data center products. In addition, the Hardware Design Manager will provide strong leadership and mentorship to ensure the team excels under their guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
- Collaborate with Product Manager to optimize product specifications and analyze technical feasibility.
- Responsible for schematic capture, layout checking, BOM generation, and debugging/testing of server motherboards/add-on cards/backplane products.
- Collaborate with layout engineers, validation engineers, software engineers, firmware engineers, product engineers, and other teams to resolve engineering issues early to enhance product quality.
- Prepare technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, and test procedures.
- Ensure products conform to engineering specifications, EMC and energy regulations, and customer performance expectations.
- Provide clear documentation and strong technical support to contract manufacturers and production during product sample and production stages.
- Support Technical Support Team and Field Application Engineer to ensure quality throughout the product life cycle.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years or Bachelor with 8 years of experience working with x86 server/workstation boards is preferred.
- Deep understanding of X86 architecture; comprehensive knowledge of PCB layout, debugging tools, and software, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of PCB layout, OrCAD/Allegro tools, circuit design, and PCB structure.
- Knowledge of high-speed circuit design and voltage regulation circuit design.
- Familiarity with digital scope and high-speed bus measurement.
- Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving capability, and strong ability to learn new technologies.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment.
Please note that this position requires regular in-office attendance. The successful candidate is expected to be present in the office during standard working hours as determined by the company. In-office collaboration and participation in team meetings, training sessions, and other on-site activities are essential aspects of this role. Candidates should consider the commuting distance and be prepared to fulfill their responsibilities in the designated office location.
Salary Range
$179,000 - $200,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
