Job Details for Manager of Food Safety/Quality Assurance:

• Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM (M-F)
• Pay Rate: $85K/Year

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager of Food Safety/Quality Assurance will lead the FSQA department, developing and executing the site quality strategy to maintain the plant's leadership in food safety operations. This role includes daily quality management, overseeing tactical quality teams, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the SQF System development and maintenance.
• Manage the entire site QA Department.
• Ensure continuous improvement of quality and regulatory systems.
• Train QA personnel and integrate the site training program.
• Ensure compliance with Customer and USDA regulations.
• Lead Food Safety Culture Program.
• Oversee Management Reviews and SQF Updates.
• Guide site on quality compliance standards.
• Manage internal/external audits and customer complaints.
• Schedule and assign QA operational requirements.
• Responsible for CAPA, Traceability, and Product Hold Programs.
• Review quality agreements and liaise with clients.
• Manage document retention programs.
• Streamline departmental procedures and ensure staff training.
• Maintain site-wide training documentation.
• Manage Vendor Management Files.
• Oversee compliance-related activities and program evaluations.
• Generate site quality system metrics.
• Coach and manage Quality Assurance staff.
• Author and approve SOPs and investigations.
• Train Service Providers and Contractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & GMP Objectives:

• Recognize and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
• Complete job-related paperwork accurately.
• Complete all annual training.
• Report all incidents.
• Execute the Food Safety Plan to ensure product quality.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Strong business writing and case analysis skills.
• 5+ years in quality assurance/regulatory leadership preferred.
• Knowledge of GMP/USDA/FDA regulations.
• Experience in people leadership roles.
• Proven track record in quality organizations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Creative thinker with analytical problem-solving skills.
• Decisive with a bias for action.
• Effective communication with all organizational levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Comply with all safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Adhere to good manufacturing practices.
• 85% office work, 15% production floor exposure.
• Exposure to raw product and processing machines.
