The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the CHR Corporate Human Resources Division.
The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for the financial accounting, reporting , treasury operations, and financial planning and analysis activities for The Clara Abbott Foundation (CAF), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a separate Board of Directors and Officers.
This position reports to the CAF Controller. Interacts with CAF Executive Director, CAF Managers and all other CAF staff on a regular basis. Key finance liaison with Abbott Corporate. Responsible for supervising 1 direct and 1 indirect report. Primary contact for external auditors.
What You’ll Work On
- Responsible for compliance with applicable CAF Policies and procedures.
- Financial Accounting, Reporting, & Analysis – Manage day-to-day accounting activities for CAF and ensure they are completed timely, accurately and in compliance with CAF’s financial policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Lead the development and presentation of analysis in support of operations that includes proactive, appropriate, and insightful analysis and commentary on CAF’s performance. Work as CAF’s finance liaison with Abbott Corporate. Provide technical support for CAF’s INTACCT accounting system.
- Treasury Operations – Oversee CAF’s bank accounts and cash flow forecast, including requirements for monthly investment liquidations to fund operations. Ensure all banking controls are maintained, along with accurate accounting and reporting for cash and the investment portfolio totaling approximately $350MM.
- Financial Planning and Analysis – Responsible for coordinating and consolidating timely, accurate and well supported Plans, Updates, LRP’s and LBEs for CAF, ensuring strategic and operational issues are appropriately highlighted and supported with analysis that concisely and accurately reflects CAF’s operations.
- Financial Support to CAF departments – Support the organization with financial guidance/consulting and assistance with analysis that will aid in the achievement of business objectives. Proactively identify and communicate results to the organization through monthly reporting and ad hoc analysis including trends, issues and opportunities, identification of key plus/(minus) issues and recommendations for appropriate contingency plans.
- Internal Controls: Establish and/or ensure effective internal controls are in place. Provide guidance and counsel to operating and financial staff in the areas of policy and procedure requirements. Support an environment of continuous process improvement to enhance controls. Primary contact for internal and external auditors and provide support for other external tax reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of financial experience (FP&A, general accounting, financial reporting, cost).
- 3+ years of people management experience preferred.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills, ability to collaborate, negotiate, and build consensus.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, including the ability to implement and manage financial information and control systems effectively.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
