ABOUT THE ROLE
The Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of multiple facilities. This role involves coordinating and managing maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, tracking maintenance records and activities via specialized software, and optimizing the functionality and efficiency of all facilities. The Facility Maintenance Manager will work closely with facility staff, vendors, and contractors to maintain a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment across all locations.
Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:
Facility Oversight:
- Manage and supervise maintenance activities across multiple facilities, ensuring that all locations are well-maintained and operational.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess the condition of facilities; work with facility staff to identify and address maintenance needs.
Maintenance Management:
- Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the maintenance and operation of critical systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and structural.
- Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of all critical infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for each facility.
- Coordinate and oversee repairs and maintenance tasks, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and structural issues.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is completed in a timely manner and to the highest standards.
- Provide assistance during emergencies as needed; this includes developing plans and implementing solutions to assist facility operations teams.
- Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination:
- Manage the sourcing, inventory and procurement of spare parts for specialized maintenance tasks and repairs.
- Oversee relationships with external parties to assist facility teams in the field. This includes obtaining and reviewing quotes, negotiating contracts, coordinating maintenance schedules, overing work performance, and ensuring work quality meets the required standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Manage the maintenance software used to track and record all maintenance activities.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on facility conditions, maintenance activities, and budget status to management.
Team Coordination:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of facility maintenance staff, including assigning tasks and providing guidance, performance feedback, and ongoing training.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and ensure that maintenance staff are properly trained and equipped.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend strategies to enhance facility maintenance practices.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices in facility maintenance.
ABOUT YOU
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related trade is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance, with a focus on electrical systems and equipment such as transformers and switchgear.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple facilities and coordinate various maintenance activities effectively.
- Experience managing budgets and implementing cost-saving strategies.
- Proficiency in using data and analytics to drive maintenance strategies.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software and tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Position requires travel.
ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
