Summary of Position
Reporting to the VP of Human Resources and working closely in collaboration with Clyde’s operations management team, the EHS Manager is responsible for research, development, implementation and continuous year over year improvement of Clyde’s EHS programs to build a successful, self-sustaining safety culture that promotes and protects the well-being of employees and ensures effective compliance with applicable governmental regulations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Keep employees safe and minimize workers compensation premium costs. Achieve accident frequency TRIR and gross losses objectives well below industry benchmarks.
- In all things, rigorously pursue a data-driven informed perspective, continuous improvement and “best possible practices.” Maintain a substantial “on the floor” presence and pursue collaborative engagement.
- With senior management and safety council leaders, develop EHS strategy, goals, leading and lagging indicators, and site-specific annual safety plans continuously improving YOY performance.
- Bring Clyde’s into compliance with applicable OSHA-required programs.
- Research, as needed, changing landscape of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials handling to determine all Clyde’s-applicable compliance requirements. Implement programs to ensure compliance.
- Support operations management in oversight and administration of environmental compliance programs for storm water, wastewater, and air permitting.
- Implement strong safety inspection disciplines carried out by production, maintenance, QA and HR management. Personally conduct regular audits and inspections to identify environmental, physical plant, and employee behavioral risks for instructive purposes. With safety council leaders, develop corrective actions and controls plans to resolve non-conformances, restore safe, compliant conditions, and institute self-sustaining disciplines.
- Elevate rigor, quality, and timeliness of EHS data analytics, record keeping, and reporting.
- Develop and facilitate delivery of EHS training programs personally and through operations management for employees at all levels that (1) satisfy compliance programs, (2) genuinely increase knowledge and awareness, and (3) drive behavioral change.
- Partner with operations management to ensure high quality near miss and accident investigations. Facilitate root causes analysis, corrective action response and quick closure.
- Implement effective and practical emergency response plans, procedures, and drills.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar scope EHS management role.
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated experience developing safety programs and achieving results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator and trainer.
- A strong bias to be on the floor versus in the office.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in safety-complimentary discipline.
- Preferred: Bi-lingual Spanish.
- Preferred: Food industry experience - conversant with Food Safety Requirements, GMPs, HACCP.
- Preferred: EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, CSHM, ASP, OHST, SMS, GSP, CET, REM, CPEA
- Preferred: Training in Lean, six sigma, continuous improvement.

We Offer
Target compensation estimates are provided in good faith at the time of job posting. Job offers may vary based on the candidate’s education, certifications, job-related knowledge, skill, experience, geographic location, shift, and internal equity. Clyde’s may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
- Target base salary range: $100,000 to $120,000
- Target total compensation range: $110,000 to $132,000
The target total compensation estimate includes an estimated annual bonus paid at target. Bonus payments are contingent on the Company achieving budgeted benchmarks and individual attainment of performance goals.
