The Manager/Director of Engineering will play a key role and is responsible for successfully leading RaySecur's engineering team; including establishing departmental standards, priorities, and output expectations with a focus on strategic oversight, mentorship, and providing expert-level knowledge in product development processes. This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of both hardware and system engineering practices, product management, and manufacturing/operations optimization. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the individual will be instrumental in developing products, refining processes, and leading a high-performing engineering and production team to support our rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Leadership:
Lead the engineering team to develop and maintain high-quality products, ensuring that design, development, and testing adhere to RaySecur’s standards for innovation, quality, and performance.
Drive the implementation of robust engineering practices, including system architecture, design reviews, and testing protocols.
Collaborate closely with the Chief Product Officer & Chief Technology Officer to align engineering strategies with product roadmaps, business goals, and client needs.
2. Production Operations:
Oversee all production activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of RaySecur’s products.
Develop and implement scalable production processes to support company growth, focusing on lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
Manage relationships with external production partners, ensuring quality control and adherence to RaySecur’s standards.
3. Team Development:
Build and mentor a team of engineers, production staff, and external partners, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training and development initiatives to bridge those gaps.
Promote RaySecur’s values by ensuring the team operates with alignment, focus, care, and innovative thinking.
4. Process Optimization and Quality Assurance:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production functions, optimizing workflows, reducing waste, and enhancing overall efficiency.
Establish and enforce quality control and assurance processes to maintain the highest level of product quality.
Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and ensure all engineering and production operations meet or exceed targets.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration:
Closely partner with other department heads to ensure the successful completion of all projects, implement new technologies, and develop efficient processes.
Collaborate with Security Service Advisors to integrate customer feedback and insights into the engineering and production processes, aligning on best practices for hardware-software integration.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, etc. (Masters or PE license beneficial)
- 7 years of experience in engineering and production management, preferably in a hardware with technology-focused company.
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong project management skills to lead and manage multiple engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within time and budget constraints.
- Deep knowledge of production methodologies, including lean manufacturing and quality control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in managing end-to-end product development, from design to manufacturing.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software, and an understanding of hardware-software integration challenges.
- Commitment to RaySecur’s mission and values, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
- CAD/Release/BOM/Design a plus
- Manufacturing or DFM or scale up a plus
- Vendor management skills and supply chain experience – Supplier Quality Management a plus
- ISO a plus
- Process and procedure development – DFMEA, etc. a plus
- Continuous improvement and 5S a plus
