Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all Deck and Technical Officer and Crew competency model developments and tracking in the applicable systems available. The Manager Deck and Tech Competencies and Alignment participates and collaborates with the Directors and Managers in our other offices responsible for officer engagement, which includes sharing best practices with those in the Carnival Corporation.
• Prepares performance reports by compiling and analyzing internal and external information and works with the fleet to ensure competencies are updated and works with the scheduling team and detailers to they have the relevant information for officers and crew balancing of the fleet.
• Ensures the different project for the Global Regulatory Team are identified, tracked and well documented for active reporting and follow up.
• The Manager Deck and Technical Competencies and Alignment drives a culture of constant improvement, identifying, and executes projects in order to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Translate requirements into trainings that will ensure continuous compliance with Flag State requirements for the HA-Group employees.
• Ensure the competencies and related trainings are valid and up to date. Works together with the operational departments and vessels to translate new HESS, ERP and personnel requirements are reflected in the systems and keeps all partners in HR up to date.
• Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes
• Ensures that all officers and crew have the appropriate skills and competencies to operate according their job description and works to align with the business needs.
• Stay informed regarding all (inter)national regulations on crewing requirements and be aware of relevant training developments as well as Deck and Technical Equipment.
• Helps others by answering questions and responding to requests.
• Assist the Manager HESS and D&E Skill Training in various tasks as directed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and or related experience equivalent
• A candidate for this position must have at least 3-5 years in working experience in a maritime role. Onboard experience in a technical role is preferred.
• Possesses appropriate knowledge of (international) crewing regulations (including flag state requirements, STCW, ILO, MLC 2006, etc.) related to maritime employment.
• Strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Communication skills are also imperative for this position, both in written and in verbal form.
• The candidate must demonstrate an ability to analyze data and work with procedures, identifying areas for improvement, availing solutions, and further developing new and improved strategies.
