Manager, Change Risk Assessments - International
Capital One is one of the fastest growing organizations in the world today and we are growing our teams globally. As a Risk Manager for international change risk assessments, you will play a pivotal role in developing and driving our international risk management framework.
The Manager for Change Risk Assessments will support our Enterprise Services (ES) Risk office in Capital One’s first line of defense, and will be on the forefront of enabling our business partners to efficiently and effectively deliver strategic change initiatives (e.g. international activities) while ensuring that risks are appropriately identified and mitigated. Specifically, in this position, you will help lead the international risk assessment processes for ES, which includes executing and enhancing our risk management processes across Capital One, influencing outcomes supporting the broader enterprise International Risk Strategy, and driving consistency and transparency across the enterprise so that we consistently identify individual risks to mitigate as well as comprehensively roll up key themes and generate views of aggregate risk across the company. You will collaborate closely with associates and senior leaders across all lines of defense, Lines of Business, and other risk management teams to support this work. This includes implementing risk management tools and frameworks for the organization and managing a sustainable and mature process to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risk.
Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, risk management, project management, and communication skills. A successful Risk Manager operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working, laws / regulations, processes and associated controls, and good risk management practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. Risk Managers have a broad level of exposure across the lines of business and have the opportunity to work with the business to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within Enterprise Services. The demands and high-visibility nature of this position require an expert with a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and who can begin contributing immediately.
Responsibilities:
Drive and coordinate work related to Capital One’s emerging international risk management function, specifically lead the international risk assessment processes for Enterprise Services
Track and assess international initiatives through the current LAUNCH risk assessment process, working with the first line of defense Technology and Cyber teams, LOB, and second line of defense teams, to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups.
Identify and implement local process improvements to drive efficiency and maximize value
Assist the ES Risk leadership team and country leadership team(s) in delivering their strategy and service model
Assist and drive project and program delivery, including project and process management, reporting, engagement in senior leadership meetings, drafting and reviewing materials for Senior Management.
Define and execute education and training campaigns to ensure that Change Driven Risk Assessment (CDRA) programs remain visible and effective
Assist and drive project and program delivery, including project and process management, reporting, engagement in senior leadership meetings, drafting and reviewing materials for senior management, and other governance activities.
Participate in risk and other management forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk and project / program management practices.
Support and lead cross-functional projects across a variety of strategic initiatives, including potential oversight of third party resources.
Stay current on the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to our international operations.
Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work, as applicable.
Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of experience in risk management
At least 4 years of experience planning and leading risk assessments and audits
At least 4 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
At least 3 years of project or process management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in risk management
5+ years of project management experience leading cross functional projects
2+ years of experience supporting an International program or Country Risk Management program
Ability to set direction, manage expectations, and lead cross-functional teams
Ability to communicate and influence clearly and to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact at all levels of the organization (e.g., technology/cyber organizations, enterprise business stakeholders, and executive leadership)
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Consulting experience with a Big 4 firm

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $163,300 - $186,400 for Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
