What You Will Do
The Manager of Business Development leads a team focused on developing and executing the global go-to-market strategy for designated target markets. This role drives key organizational programs that enhance both top and bottom-line growth by identifying market gaps and creating effective offerings.
Key responsibilities include setting strategic plans and objectives for the department and ensuring performance accountability. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of industry trends and growth opportunities, alongside expertise in product knowledge, marketing initiatives, market research, and future business challenges. In this role you will:
- Approve costs for business development department and manage the budget.
- Support development of a detailed multiyear strategic plan which outlines process/roadmap to achieve growth initiatives.
- Provide detailed market intelligence to the team, including market size by region, key customers/influencers, market trends/drivers, and competitor activities.
- Study the competition and identify their strengths, weaknesses, marketing strategies, selling strategies, etc.
- Analyze industry product/technology offerings to identify gaps and overlaps and capture the voice of the customer into new product initiatives.
- Work with leadership to develop new products, partnerships, or acquisition strategies to address gaps.
- Oversee new product and service development projects.
- Required Degree: Undergraduate degree in either engineering, business administration, finance or marketing.
- Preferred Degree: Master's degree.
- Years of Experience: 10+ years electromechanical/chemical b2b product commercial experience as a product manager, business development manager, or salesperson.
- 5+ years of demonstrated leadership capabilities in other roles managing people or demonstrated experience in relevant projects, processes, and product lines with financial, and business oversight, including dotted line influence without a title with internal and external stakeholders up to the c-suite.
- Achieved 10x growth in revenue (i.e. taking a $1M entity to $10M, $10M entity to $100M, etc.).
- Effective communication and presentation skills both 1:1 and with large groups from frontlines to executives.
- Ability to develop team members through mentorship and coaching.
- Examples of effectively utilizing resources to achieve and exceed goals.
- Aspirations for career growth and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution network in North America, or at least familiar with large electrical contractors and how they work.
- Experience working with contractors installing systems and distributors in channel.
